I am a full-time automotive educator for the North Carolina Community College System and I see, on almost a daily basis, the tremendous need for technology training among new automotive students and working technicians. I started this site to deliver technology training to a wide group, from automotive students to working technicians and everybody in between.
I truly believe there are many currently working in the automotive service industry that will soon hit the “technology wall” and it’s not going to be pretty! Over the years I kept thinking the automotive industry would reach a saturation point, on the implementation of technology, but I now doubt it ever will. I see this exponential increase in the need for digital literate technicians to be one of the biggest challenges on the horizon for the automotive service industry.
I’ve been blessed with automotive and digital skills and feel compelled to help contribute to an industry that has been good to me. So that is why I started Digital Automotive.
I originally wrote the book, Technology Guide for Today’s Automotive Technician, about 5 years ago. I used the book in a computer skills class I taught at Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown, NC. The book was designed to be used as a college-level textbook. The printed book is now available as an online course which offers much more in the way of multimedia content.
In addition to offering this as an online course to individuals, college book stores will be able to purchase course access keys at wholesale for resell to students. Instructional support material such as test banks and multi-media content will also be available for instructors.
Several online courses are being developed (see the Product Road Map for details) and all will be available to individuals, schools, and training directors. Schools and training directors can purchase vouchers at volume discounts.
In addition to the online courses, Digital Automotive will promote the open and free exchange of technology information among automotive service personnel. I will blog consistently about automotive digital technology and promote upcoming industry events.
It is my pledge to always maintain an ad-free site narrowly focused on promoting digital technology within the automotive service industry. There are no affiliate links on this site and I do not plan to offer an affiliate program for my products. My sole source of income from this site will be from those that participate in my online training products.
Your participation and input is key to the success of this site. I pledge to grow and evolve the site based heavily on user input; therefore, feel free to contact me with any ideas, comments, or concerns about this site.
